Show PREVENT TYPHOID the utah state board of health has issued a bulletin of caution on typhoid fever which 18 worthy of careful attention f the season of increased prevalence of typhoid fever Is approaching and individuals and communities hould be made to realize that many lives may be saved from its ravages by tho careful observance of simple precautions attention is again called to the fact that ft is caused solely by organisms given oft in the excreta of a person affected with the disease these organisms are exceedingly minute but potent and are liable to infect any person in whose intestines they may find lodgment the usual channel by which they are taken into the body is the drinking water milk and other uncooked foods may also contain them as a result of the contact of contaminated flies the law provides for the of excreta from typhoid cases and health officers should strictly enforce this most important measure it it were conscientiously observed in all cases the disease would soon be completely exterminated by this means alone the seeds thus being destroyed instead of sown broadcast jn the meantime all water used for drinking purposes should be treated as suspicious and should be boiled milk should be carefully protected from flies and it suspected as to its purity should bo sterilized by boiling fruits and other foods should also be kept from contact with flies and the latter should be carefully excluded from houses in addition to these measures health officers should require the of all vaults by lime or some other efficient disinfectant and insist that they shall hereafter bo maintained in a sanitary condition |
