Show I UTAH LIGHT TO BUILD A ROAD TO OGDEN I It is said by officers of the Utah Light & Railway company that by February 1 the company will have completed an electric ear line from Salt Lake to Farmington, and that soon after that time building operations opera-tions toward Ogdon will begin. Before Be-fore the- year 1913 Is ended there will be two competing intorurban olec-trlc olec-trlc railroads between the two big cities of the state. The Bambcrgor people have gone into the courts asking Injunctions against the "Utah Light & Railway peoplo to prevent the latter company from continuing with its building operations op-erations in Farmington, but it la stated stat-ed by tho officers of the light company com-pany that the proceedings will not retard tho progress of road building between Salt Lake and Farmington, and that ultimately the Injunctions will be raised and the company given a free hand. The Utah Light & Railway company com-pany has a right of way over tho state highway from Salt Lake to tho Davis county metropolis, and it is quite certain that the company intends in-tends to enter into the interurban electric railroad business outside of Snlt Lake to a great extent. Extensions Exten-sions both north and south are to be made by tho company within the next few years until the state from Logan to Nephi Is covered by an electric car system owned and controlled by the Ilarrlraan people. Tho Une south of Salt Lake is completed com-pleted to Holliday, which is In the southern part of Salt Lake county, and in Utah county In tho vicinity of Lehi grading is being done at this time. Other companies aro planning to construct intorurban electric railroads in Utah county, but It is stated that !ii all likelihood the Utah Light & Railway will have a road in operation in that county before other companies compa-nies get well under way. If the Harriman oompany builds a competing electric road between Salt Lake and Ogdcn it is said that the passenger rate between the two cities cit-ies will be reduced to a low point. Already the Salt Lake & Ogdon Railway Rail-way company people have said to the Davis county taxpayers that If they refuse to grant a right of way to the Utah Light & Railway company a rate of 25 cents a round trip from Farmington to Salt Lake would be made the regular fare |
