Show DIRT TO FLY ON CAPIM GROUND At 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon a great steam shovel will bury its iron nose In the virgin soil of Capitol hill and scoop up the first load of dirt to make way for the state capltol building. Tho momentous event, marking the culmination of many years of hope, planning and delay, will be attended by fitting ceremonies. All state, federal, fed-eral, city and county officers, members mem-bers of the legislature and- the public at large are invited to attend the exercises, ex-ercises, which will be brief because of the cold' weather. Governor William Spry will speak on behalf of the state, and Mayor I Park will speak for the city. N'o dedication ded-ication of the grounds will be made, that being a ceremony incident to the laying of the corner stone. P. J. Moran holds the contract for tho excavation work at the capltol site and his steam shovel is already on the ground awaiting tho appointed hour. Governor Spry said yesterday that he was desirous of a full representation representa-tion of city officials to take part in the exercises, since the city deeded the grounds to the stale free of charge 2-1 years ago. |
