Show (WHY THE LIGHTS WERE BURNING There were more lights radiating from the homes of Ogden before day- light this morning than in a year f past. A newspaper man, on his way 2 to work at 7 o'clock each morning, H has noted that not one home in five H! shows signs of life at that hour of Huj the day, but this morning was an ex- Q ception. Upstairs and downstairs there HM was a flood of light through the win- Hl dows. Fully half of the homes had thrown off the somber darkness and M there were signs of animation within J H Of course, the passer-by was no de- H tective, and, therefore, could only M guess the cause of this early rising, M until he heard a horn toot and a H drum resound. There was childish' H laughter and hero and there was Hl f minrrimn caugbt a glimpse of fleeting night gowns of small size. We have our own opinion as to what prompted all this unusual activity, ac-tivity, but can YOU guess the meaning mean-ing of it? What a story of joy those lights conveyed! What a pretty delusion and yet how real to those youngsters who, as they were tucked away In their beds last night, resolved to awaken at the first patter of footsteps on the housetops or the slightest tinkling of bells outside. A delusion? No, only in part! Wherever those lights were burning this morning a real, genuine, child-loving, child-loving, thoughtful, indulgent, sacrificing sacrific-ing Santa Claus was present. Once a year we all can well afford to play Santa. Claus to the children and fill their little minds with love for those who, in their love for them, exhibit tho-best traits In life. |
