Show POLICE WATCH TWO HOLD-UP SUSPECTS Springfield, 111.. Dec. 24. Two of tho seven suspects gathored in today by police and sherifts' deputies us a result of the melo-dramatlc holdup of the Alton "Hummer" last night hae been ordered kept under special surveillance, sur-veillance, as they gave conflicting answers an-swers when questioned by V. S. Cain, chief detective of the Alton. The men. who were questioned for hours by Cain, are .1. K. llnrlnel, Chicago, Chi-cago, and Elmer Vlgus, Springfield The latter has a local police record. Tho former claimed among other things that he was a Chicago saloonkeeper, saloon-keeper, but he was doubtful as to his street and telephone numbers and other oth-er details. C. D. Summy, St Louis, manager, and F. W. Shuler of Chicago, special officers of tho American ExprcsB com pany, are on the ground. They say nothing of special value was lost. Tonight Sheriff Mestcr and his deputies dep-uties have detained F. II Waggoner, Jesse Wilkes and a number of othr suspects, but they were merely gathered gath-ered in under tho general orders to bring in every suspicious character.
