Show WORLD'SJARKETS MARKET DULL OWING TO LABOR TROUBLES New York, April 24 Traders proceeded pro-ceeded cautiously in tho second hour of the stock market today pending further developments in th engineers' engi-neers' controversy. The market assumed as-sumed a duller tons but New Yoik Central added to its rise. Of the active ac-tive specialties American Can jumped into further prominence, advancing to a now high record. Bonds were strong. There was an upward move In stocks at the opening. (For the most part this was fractional, but it was so general as to indicate a resumption resump-tion of public interest. Some of tho specialties, Including Amorlean Writing Writ-ing Paper preferred, were prominent with a rise of more than a point Uni ted States Steel, Reading, union pacific pa-cific and other market leaders made only slight gains There wore a few unimportant declines, Including American Am-erican Tobacco, Chesapeake & Ohio and International Harvester. Opening gains wore not well distributed, dis-tributed, but there was Increased activity ac-tivity In various minor Issues Missouri, Mis-souri, Kansas & Texas, Rock Island preferred, American Beet Sugar, American Am-erican Can. Mexican Petroloum, Corn Products and Pacific Telephone advanced ad-vanced one to two points, but standard stand-ard i&sues wavered in sympothy with somo pressure against Amalgamated Coppor. Thero was a fair volume of business during the first hour, but the list lacked yesterday's scope Trading was dull around the noon hour with no Important prlco change except in relatively unimportant stoqks In fact, the usual leaders were almost neglecled, their a'serage level being on a par with yesterday's close. The market continued very dull In the latter part of the session, with some shading of prices in the highly speculative issues Unltod States Steel was half-a point under yesterday's yester-day's closing and. other leaders slightly slight-ly less.
