A royal English Eng-lish oak tree has been set out In Central Cen-tral Park ns tho official successor of the one planted by tho late King Edward VII, when ho visited the United Uni-ted States In 1SG0. The king's tree died In 190S after a twenty year's attempt at-tempt by tho authorities to nurse It out of a persistent ill-health. Tho new tree is a perfect specimen about fifteen years old and destined to 'become 'be-come ono of tho largest and most perfectly per-fectly formed trees in the park. Its location Is within a stone's throw of a white oak set out by Washington Irving. |
