Show COLLISION OF TWO AUTOS Further investigation of tho automobile auto-mobile accident which occurred last evening at tho corner of Twenty -fifth and Grant, whon the machine driven by George Abbott collided with ono driven by L. W NlckBon on Twenty-fifth Twenty-fifth street, brings to light the fact that young Abbott was done quite an injustice by the report In the morning paper. Tho collision resultod in tho wrecking wreck-ing of one of the machines, the breaking break-ing of a fire hydrant, the subsequent flooding of tho stroet, and the fainting faint-ing of ono of the women passengers It was reported that Abbott was running on the wrong side of the strcot when the accident occurred This was proven to be an error, as it was shown by a number of witnesses, as well as tho occupants of the car, that ho was driving on the north side of tho street going down Twenty-fifth to the Marlon hotel. It was further said that when the cars collided that Abbott abandoned his enr and jumped out thus allowing tho machine to lcavo the street and strike the Iron water plug at the corner. This, too, has been proven to be a mistake, as Abbott was the last to leave tho machine, ma-chine, though he did for a moment lose control of his motor when the collision col-lision occurred. r Miss Maude Ilayds, who was riding in front with Abbott, was thrown over tho front of the car, but did not suffer suf-fer any serious injury from her fall The Abbott car was badly damaged but shows clearly by the dent in tho radiator that the car was hit on the left hand side In the collision. This could not htive happened If the car had been traveling on the wrong side ot the street f According to young Abbott's version of the affair, the Nickson car undertook under-took to cross In front, of him and turn into Grant nvenuo In trying to avoid a collision Abbott swung his car o the right and, as tho other car struck him, the momentum of his car threw him into the wator plug |
