By a verdict of 10 to 2 the Jury in the contest con-test brought by George L Patterson, a banker ot Newcastle, Pa., to havo set asldo tho will in which his mother, Mrs. Catherine B. Thurston, bequeathed be-queathed tq Mrs. i Catherine M. Tin-gley, Tin-gley, head of the Universal Brotherhood Brother-hood and Theo&ophlcal society, an estate es-tate valued at $247,000, found for tho contestant tonight.. Not long after she became a member mem-ber of the Theosophlcal society at Point Loma, Cal., Mrs. Patterson was married to an aged member of tho society, Thurston by name. The will contest was fought bitterly, and many allegations wore made as to tbo manner man-ner in which Mrs. Thurston was said to have been influenced while at Point Loma Patterson maintained that his mother moth-er was not in her right mind when the will was made, and in support of this contention offered in evidence depositions depo-sitions fiom a number of persons who, at ono time residents of tho city, had moved to widely divergent parts of the woild. Several of the leadiuc witnesses came from Kingston, Kings-ton, N. Y. Mrs. Tingley was in conrt when tho verdict was. read, byt mado no com- ment. Her counsel said the case would be appealed. |
