Show CONSCIENCE STRICKEN MAN Because he beat the Oregon Short Line Railroad compan out of S5 cents worth of car faro several years ago, tho conscience of a former Ogdcn mnn has so smitten him that he has written a letter to E. A. Shewe," city passenger and ticket agent of the road, asking that he may bo allowed to compensate tho corporation for its loss. Ticket Agent Shewe has declined to make public the name of the remorseful re-morseful patron, but states that tho writer of the conscience letter moved some years ago from Ogden to Olym-pia, Olym-pia, Wash , from which citv the epistle was mailed. Part of the letter reads: "Some years ago I got on a train at Nyassa, Ore., and rode to Wciser, Ida. The conductor overlooked me so I did not pay my fare. If you will tell me what the fare Is I will pay It." The writer does not explain whether wheth-er he has discovered a cheap method of manufacturing radium, whether he has been attending a revival meeting, or whether the damp atmosphere of Washington has afflicted him with a moral brain-storm. What may have prompted tho letter will not be investigated in-vestigated by Mr. Shewo, who expects to forward tho penitent paper to the general passenger agent of the road. |
