Show M WATER EXTENSIONS. H H "Editor of Standard: Prior to the bond election o last fall tnerc was an editorial an the Standard to (ho effect that, should the ( peflple of Ogden vote for the extension of the water mams, ajiao M would be placed on Sheridan avenue. "No action on the part of the city, looking toward such an extension" of the water mains, has been taken since the bond issue received the people's indorsement 1 would like to know if this ' pre-election statement was an editorial error or if it is the inieu- lion of the city to fulfil this promise to the residents of Sheridan avenue, who is responsible for the erroneous statement you pub- lished? (Signed) CTIAS. ULVBR 2672 Sheridan avenue The writer of the foregoing is mistaken as to where that prom- ise of water extensions appeared. We did not promise, in an cdi-' cdi-' torial to Bupply Sheridan avenue with water, but in the local column ' a statement was made that the Sheridan avenue and other cxten-, cxten-, sious could not be made unless the bond issue was voted. H It is oniv two weeks since the bond money was received by the city and too much must not be expected to be done immediately. H ' There are demands for water extensions and improvements from H overy part of the city and the water department is laboring to meet H these demands, but one of the essentials is more water which, until H it is obtained, wiU almost forbid water extensions. This will be in H part supplied when the second reservoir is concreted and the new H ' water main down Twenty-third street is connected wdth the distribu- H tine system. But, however that may be, the writer of the foregoing should H communicate direct with the city administration, setting forth his H grievances. |
