Show Hj THE OGDEN OHOIR IS THE CHOIR. H The Salt Lake Herald-Republican unwittingly makes an ex- H cellent argument as to why the Ogden Tabernacle choir should rep- H resent Utah at the New York land exposition. The Herald says: H "The chance that the Tabernaole choir will attend tho H land and irrigation exposition at New York is awakening H deep interest among the people, and it ought to be en- H i couraged. The choir that should go is the great body of H musicians that hold forth in Salt Lake. It was they who H , made the "Irrigation Ode' famous, and it should be they H who sing it in New York." 1 The foregoing bungling attempt at praise for the Salt Lake Hj Tabernacle choir will afford no end of amusement to the Ogden sing- H ers. The Salt Lake musicians have never sung tho "Irrigation Ode," H in public or rehearsed it in private. As a body, the Salt Lake Tab- H ernacle choir is as great a stranger to the Ode as a Piute papoose out M in the wilds of Nevada. H The only organizations that have rendered the Ode are the Hl Ogden Tabernacle choir and a choir in El Paso, Texas. H We agree with the Salt Lake paper, that the choir which has H rendered the Ode should be encouraged to take the trip to New York. |
