Show BRILLIANT BALL iii the com Resplendent iu its beautiful decorations deco-rations which produced an atmos-phoro atmos-phoro of distinctiveness, the Congress acadomy was tho scene of another brilliant social affair last night when Mr. and Mrs. Loroy Ecclcs and Mr. and Mrs. George A. Woodruff entertained enter-tained at a ball. About, two hundred persons, among whom woro a number num-ber from Salt Lake City, responded to tho Invitations. The present social season has afforded af-forded no prettier function than that of last ovening. No detail of arrangement arrange-ment was ignored or overlooked by the clever hosts and hostessos und their efforts, combined with tho largo assemblage of beautifully gowned ladies la-dies and gentlemen in full evening dress, produced a scene of true brilliancy. bril-liancy. A decorative scheme which was unique uni-que and at tho same tlmo extremoly aitlstlc was carried out under the direction of Mrs. "Woodruff. Suspended Suspend-ed from tho center of the ceiling and extending almost to tho side-walls was a network of pink tendrils forming form-ing a gigantic spider's web. From this was suspended several hundred miniature electric lights with frosted bulbs No other lights were used in the hall and the warm glow from the great centerpiece cast a soft radiance over the beautiful scone. From the illuminated network In tho center of the hall ropes of pink radiated in graceful curves to -the sides and corners with tho points of connection at tho outer end marked b potted palms. Suspended ln front of the musicians stand and just over the heads of the receiving hosts and their assistants wero the two large Initials "E" and "W" formed by electric elec-tric bulbs framed in pink. The musicians were almost completely com-pletely concealed from the dancers by a bower of spruce bows extending outward and upward from tho base of the stand to the ceiling. This background of dark green was intermingled inter-mingled with hows of pink ribbon. The entrance to the hall was partially par-tially concealed by small pine trees. Mr. and Mrs. Eccles and Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff were assisted ln the receiving of their guests by Mrs. Marion Ma-rion Banks, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kuhn, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Eccles, Mr. and Mrs. Charles KIrcher aud Miss Nan Short, the latter of Salt Lake City The gown worn by Mrs. Eccles was of pink marquisette oer pink brocaded bro-caded silk wltli pearl trimmings. She wore diamonds and a gold pendant Mrs. Woodruff was attired in a .gown of white marquisette over corn-colored brocaded silk and also wore diamonds. dia-monds. The young ladies in chargo of the refreshment room were Misses Alberta Al-berta Wright, Fawn Wright. Rachael Wright. Vera Brown! ner. Celia Ec clcs and Ltla Eccles. Tho same deco-ratlvo deco-ratlvo scheme as to colors was carried car-ried out In the rcircshment room. Ropes or pink chiffon extended from tho center cluster of lights to the four corners and a large vase of cut flowers adorned the table Refreshments Refresh-ments of mint wafers and nut meats were served. Misses Kathryn Joyce and Lophelia Runyan attended the refreshment booth In tho dancing hall and the programs were given out by Misses Marlon and Vivian Eccles. The dainty dain-ty white programs were devoid of decorations othor than the gold era-bossed era-bossed "E" and "W", on the front cover. The dancing program consisted con-sisted of twenty numbers.
