IT I It Mill PUEBLO, Colo., Jan. 27 A lone bandit who gavo his name as Al Buckley, held up the passengers of the Colorado and Southern passenger train No. 2. southbound a few minutes min-utes after it left the Union Depot hero, at 4:30 o'clock this afternoon. After securing S117 and some Jewelry from the passengers, ho leaped from the train. Special Agent William McCafferty of tho RJo Grande happened to bo on the train and when he was Informed that the bandit was nt work in the rear coach he started back and roach-ed roach-ed the platform just in timo to see the holdup jump from the train and run. Agent Captures Bandit., McCalTorty followed und opened lire. Buckley roturned the shots. In the fusillade, Buckley was shot through the right wrlBt, and, when his gin dropped from his hand, he surrendered. All the money and valuables val-uables wore rocovored. Buckley is supposed to havo hoarded hoard-ed the train at the Union depot. When it reached Bessemer, a suburb, ho pulled the bell cord, stopped the train, and then with a drawn revolver, revol-ver, commanded all the passengers to hold up their hands and "dig-up." Says Name Is Al Banc, Buckley Is a well dressed man about 24 years old. Ho refused to talk about the holdup or his past record. Tonight the holdup said his right name is Al Banc, alias Al Buckley. Ho gave his home as Athol, Kansas, where he said his parents and wife leslde.- He said he was formerly a Santa Fe engineer. He claims that ho was intoxicated Avhen he held up tfie train |
