Show 4-H Mobilization Program Set Accenting the. instruction of youth -in wartime and the increased in-creased production and conservation conserva-tion of food in 1944 4-H club Mobilization week will begin Saturday Sat-urday when a national broadcast will bring an address by Judge Marvin Jones, War Food administrator, adminis-trator, and a message from President Presi-dent Roosevelt. Activities of 4-H clubs in the state of Utah will be supervised during the week from the offices of Director W. W. Owens of the Utah extension service, and the two "assistant state 4-H club leaders, David Sharp Jr. and Fern Shipley. A large scale publicity program has already heralded the week, and will continue until March 12. Four purposes will guide advisers, advis-ers, leaders, and club members during Mobilization week. Outlined Out-lined by the national extension service and the U. S. department of agriculture, they are as follows: fol-lows: (1) provide 4-H members an opportunity to check their efforts to date in helping to win the war with the 4-H goals already al-ready set up; (2) give every member mem-ber an opportunity to reaffirm his intention of carrying his goals to completion, especially those affecting af-fecting food production, conservation conserva-tion and health; (3) encourage every 4-H member to assume responsibility res-ponsibility for enrolling at least one new member and helping him to get started in the local 4-H club; and (4) publicize the results of 4-H club work from the standpoint stand-point of the nation, state, county and local community, so that the general public may be adequately informed regarding the far-reaching far-reaching importance of the clubs in helping to win the war. Keynote address of the week will come Saturday when Director Direc-tor Owens will introduce the program pro-gram in Utah. Club meetings, all in line with the purposes introduced intro-duced in Washington, will be conducted throughout the state. |
