Show Seed Contracts For Growers Cache county seed growers have an opportunity to produce bean and turnip seed for the Kimberly Seed company in Idaho, William R. Zollinger, chairman of the Cache county fruits and vegetable . planning committee, reports. The beans, an early maturing variety have averaged 1500 pounds per acre, with some of the higher yields going to about 2000 pounds per acre. The contract price is eight and one-half cents per pound. The beans will be planted until the first week In June and will be harvested In about 70 to 80 days. Turnip seed will be planted in August and can be harvested with a combine the following year, he said. The labor factor in growing turnip seed is lessened considerably because most of the A work is done with machines. Seed contracts can be obtained at the Cache county agricultural agent's office. |
