Show HORSE SHOW TO BE STAGED HERE Night Event Will Attract Many Entries Committees to stage the annual Cache Valley night horse show set for June 26-27 in the Utali State Agricultural college stadium, were announced today after final plans were completed and a permanent per-manent show organization was set up Wednesday night, reports Fred Spencer, secretary-treasurer of the group. James C. Wallentine, manager of the Dinnerhorn Food Store, was named to manage the show this year. Permanent officers of the organization or-ganization are Chet O. Wheatley, prominent Intermountain horse trainer, president; L. H. Daines, vice president, and Mr. Spencer. The show is expected to attract several hundred horses from all parts of Utah, Western Wyoming, and many parts of Idaho, Mr. Wallentine said. Already entries have been assured from Twin Falls, Idaho; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Davis, Sale Lake, Weber and Utali counties. Many fine Cache Valley horses also will be exhibited. ''The show is being presented to promote better training of show horses and create an interest in finer types of saddle stock," Mr. Wallentine said. "A nationally known horse judge is being contacted con-tacted and will use an entirely different system, to rate the entries." en-tries." The show will be conducted under un-der rules and regulatoins of the national association of horse shows, he said. There will be classes for fine names and pleasure type animals, ani-mals, along with special classes for stock and quarter horse breeds. An unusual- feature of the event will be a "calf scramble," which . will be staged to advance 4-H club interest in raising better stock. The calves will be released each night and 4-H club contestants contest-ants will be allowed to keep the animals they catch under the rules established by the committee. commit-tee. At the show next year, winners win-ners will return the calves they have fed and they will be auctioned auction-ed off. West, publicity. The show Is being sponsored by the Logan Mounted Police unit, headed by John Moser, president and the Cache Canter Club, with Mr. Wheatley as president |
