Show USAG TRUSTEES APPROVE BUDGET Advances for Faculty Members Announced The Utah State Agricultural college board of trustees approved ap-proved the 1944-45 budget at tneir annual budget meeting Monday in Salt Lake City, it was announced an-nounced today by R. E. Berntson, executive secretary of the board. The budget includes funds for various divisions of the college, the extension service, the experi. ment station and the Branch Agricultural Ag-ricultural college at Cedar City, he explained. The board approved purchate of a tract of land in Nofth Logan for experimental purposes, and authorized moving of the poultry experiment farm to a hew location. loca-tion. This will relieve the crowded crowd-ed condition on the campus and will give the poultry experiment husbandmen better facilities to carry on their expanded program. Sabbatical leaves were granted to Miss Una Vermillion, associate professor of institutional management, manage-ment, who will do research work in that field; and to Mrs. Caroline Caro-line M. Hendricks, dean of women who will attend the University of California in Los Angeles, to do guidance and personnel work. Increases in rank were approved approv-ed for the following members: Jesse Larsen, instructor in art to assistant professor; Howard Peterson, Pe-terson, instructor in agronomy to assistant professor; Clara P. West, instructor in secretarial science to assistant professor; Ina Doty, instructor in secretarial science to assistant professor; C. A. Wall, instructor in accounting and business administration to assistant assist-ant professor; John C. Carlisle, associate professor of Education to professor. Appointments of assistants to aid in the emergency war food preservation program, were approved, ap-proved, Mr. Berntson said. This expanded program was made possible pos-sible by a special grant of federal funds. The new workers, are: Rela Armstrong, Garfield; Faye Carol Crawford, Sevier; Julia Fin-linson, Fin-linson, Iron and Beaver; Ruth McKonkie, Piute and Wayne; Jessie Jes-sie Leora Meacham, Uintah; Ber-nice Ber-nice Palfreyman, Duchesne; Blanche H. Sorenson, Utah; Doris Naomi Hughes, Kane; Sarah Mal-da Mal-da Vickers, Grand arid San Juan. These assistants were made possible pos-sible by a special grant of federal feder-al funds. The next board meeting will be h.eld in Cedar City May 19 at the time of annual Branch Agricultural Agricul-tural college commencement exercises. |
