Joy Nelson of Salt Lake City, a major in the school of education, educa-tion, has been named valedictorian of the class of 1944 at Utah State Agricultural college, it was announced an-nounced by W. H. Bell, registrar, following approval of her appointment appoint-ment at a faculty meeting. Selected on the basis of scholarship, scholar-ship, Miss Nelson maintained a 92.9550 rating during her four yev.rs at the college. She will deliver de-liver the annual valedictorian address ad-dress at commencement exercises i ort Saturday, June 3, Mr. Bell reported. re-ported. Miss Nelson is a daughter of two former USAC graduates, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin T. Nelson, of 5650 Highland High-land Drive, Salt Like City. Her father is a graduate of the class of 1916 and was editor of the Buzzer, campus yearbook, a member mem-ber of the debate team and of - Phi Kappa Iota, social fraternity. Mrs. Nelson served as vice president presi-dent of the student body during her senior year. , Active in student affairs, the I new valedictorian is director of I publicity for the college student I body organization, and recently j was named to Phi Kappi Phi, ; honorary scholastic raternity for j senior students. She is an officer in Lambda Delta Sigma, religious organization, and is a prominent I musician on the campus.
