Show A no-host family party was held at the home of . Mr. snd Mrs. Hazen Hillyard recently in honor of Hollis D. Smith. Thirty one members of the Samuel P. Nilson family were present. Music and moving pictures were the evening's even-ing's entertainment. Refreshments were served. Hollis is stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Train-ing Station in Illinois. The Book Luree Literary club was entertanied ' Friday evening by Mrs. Cliff Porter at the home of Mr. ' and Mrs. H. P. Hanson at Amalga. A short business meeting meet-ing "was held in charge of Mrs. Donald Jackson. Mrs. Arvel Heaps will be the president for the coming com-ing year. The program was given by Mrs. Parley Winn, "The Life of Beethoven"; Mrs. Winn played ''Moonlight Sonata"; "Minuet in G" was played by Mrs. -Arvel Heaps and Mrs. Carl Clawson; Beethoven's Beethov-en's Fifth Symphony" first movement move-ment was given by Mrs. Winn; Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, second se-cond movement, was played by Mrs. Orval Heaps and Mrs. Carl Clawson. Luncheon was 'served to 17 club members. Special guests were: Miss Gladys Hansen, Mrs. Ellen Hansen, Mrs. Anna Mathers and Mrs. Ruth Hansen. The last meeting of the season will be held at the home of Mrs. Bert Reese at Benson. Mrs. Reid M. Hovey and son Glen R. of Mobile, Alabama are visiting with her mother, Mrs. Fern Smith. Mrs. Morris Whitlock and daughter, daugh-ter, Pamala Dee of Mayfield, Utah spent the week-end visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hazen Hillyard and other relatives. Mrs. Clara Sparks was a Smith-field Smith-field visitor Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Ballard of Cache Jnction visited with Mrs. Fern Smith on Saturday. . S. P. Nilson spent the weekend week-end vvi3iting-.-with his" daughter, Mrs. Leonard Christensen of Richmond. Their son, Wade left for the army Saturday. Mrs. John , Nelson entertained at a quilting party Wednesday at her home. Those included were Mrs. Isaac Peterson, Mrs. Soren Seeley, Mrs. Sylvia Draper and Mrs. Oliver Nilsdh. Luncheon was served by the hostess. J. M. Roylance and son Ralph spent the week-end at Salt Lake city. Ralph enlisted in the navy and will )eave the Last of May. Mrs. J. N. Stephens entertained at a no-host party Friday afternoon after-noon at her hame.i Those included includ-ed were Mrs. Robert Fulkerson. Mrs. J. W. Kirkbride, Mrs. Wallace Raymond, Mrs. Frank Hillyard, Mrs. George Beutler, Mrs. C. W. Clark and Mrs. Paul Greaves. Luncheon was served and the afternoon af-ternoon spent in playing bridge. High score prize was won by Mrs.'' Wallace Raymond. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Blanchard of Logan were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. La Dell Blanchard on Sunday. Corporal James Jensen of California Cali-fornia is visiting with Ardeth Farrell and other relatives. Miss Burnell Winn, who has been employed at the Salt Lake Tribune Trib-une office at Salt Lake city for the past year,, has accepted a po. sition in Washington, - D. x C, and is leaving Monday. The Willow Valleycamp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their regular meeting Wednesday-afternoon Wednesday-afternoon at the home of Mrs. Le Roy West, with Captain Cora Aston conducting. The lesson, "Governors of Pioneer Days," was given by Mrs. Le Grand Gunnell; 'Mrs. Alma Raymond played accordion ac-cordion music. Seventeen ladies were present. Refreshments were served. Mrs. Oliver Nilson won the quilt made by the pioneer ladies. Miss Barbara Onley is spending the week with relatives at Logan. Mrs. Helen P. Toolson, who has spent the past ' seven months with her sister at Boise, Idaho returned home Monday. The Ladies' Literary club held their regular meeting Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs Roy Smith. The program was given giv-en by Mrs. J. M. Roylance; Professor Pro-fessor Moyle J. Wright of the USAC gave a review of the book, "Bridge of Heaven" by Haiung. Fourteen club members were present. pres-ent. Mrs. Moyle Wrieht of Logan Lo-gan was a special guest. Luncheon was served by the hostess. Mrs. Carrie Potts, Mrs. Laura Gyllenskog, are employed, at the Bushnell hospital at Brigham city. |
