Show A LETTER FROM YOUR PRESIDENT TO YOU The White House, Washington The American Red Cross has become an intimate part of our national life. Under its Con- gressional charter it is a semi- officia agent of the government but it belongs, nevertheless, to the people. It is the instru- ment of the people in giving ex- pression to the lofty, unselfish humanitarianisra the practical idealism, characteristic of this Nation from its humble begin- nings. The American Red Cross has been tested in war and the af- 0 termath of war; in fire, flood and famine, and in the emer- goncies. of peace. It has been proved an indispensable instru- ment for the alleviation of suf- fering and the betterment of human life in our own and oth- er lands. We should make unmistak- ably clear our faith in this in- dividuals it is our duty and pri- vilege to be a part of thi or- ganization. Yearly, from Armistice Day to Thanksgiving Day, the Ameri- can Red Cross invites all the people to enter its rangs. It en- rolls them for service. As Pres- id'ent of the United States, and P as President of the . American Red Cross, I urge universal acceptance of the invitation to join. The Red Cross needs and O should have your generous sup- port. Let its good works be- come your good works. |
