Show A BEAVER HUNT STAGED IN BEAVER An army of sports under command of Captain Cy Davis and Lieutenant. Geo. Price, with Paul Wooley, M. D., of Los Angeles went out to the big pond southwest of town last Sunday to catch the beaver which had been planted there last year by the state game department and take them up into the mountains to a more desirable desir-able spot. The army advanced in skirmish line and surrounded the animals, destroyed their fortification fortifica-tion and attempted to capture them without injury,, but the beaver took to the water and it was then discovered discov-ered that a fatal mistake had been made in planning the expedition. The navy should have been commissioned commis-sioned for the job, especially the submarines. After the captain had ordered sev eral of his detachments into the water (maybe they fell in) in an effort ef-fort to catch the animals, the battle stopped and the army returned to its quarters and sent out a call for recruits. Another attack will be made in the near future. The farmers in the neighborhood of the big pond are very much opposed' op-posed' to having the beaver there, as they are a pest, destroying vegetation vegeta-tion and cutting their irrigation ditch banks, thus doing a great amount of damage.
