Show CITY WELL TEST IS BIG SUCCESS i Und'er the supervision o B. B. Brewster, the small -city well was j tested last Thursday. The air-lift comprising a 25 horse power motor and a ten by 10 air compressor has been installed with an inch and a half air line down? into the well, and a wier was constructed' con-structed' about seventy feet south of the well and at the point the water was measured. When the pump was first started, a flow of only abotn 100 gallons per minute was obtained, but after some small adjustments were made and quite a lot of sand pumped out of the well, the stream began to increase in-crease and at the end of about .four hours, pumping the measurement showed 240 gallons per minute or a little over 1-2 sencond-foot. Mr. Brewster was here as the representative re-presentative of the--Sullivan Machinery Machin-ery company and has taken considerable consider-able pains to demonstrate the actual amount of water that it is possible' to obtain from, the Milford wells, and it is conceded that the measure- I ments were very accurate'. The well tested- is the old well and has only a four-inch casing and as the inch and a half line was inside the casing, it is considered remarkable remark-able that so much water should have been obtained. This well has been "bandoned for several years and 'radically useless. The well which is now being used to supply the town is a much larger one and with proper equipment, should produce at least twice as much water. The draw down on the small well was 61 feet. |
