Show Clerks of the exemption board in recording re-cording claims for epemption have noted two outstanding features in the claims presented. One of these is the almost remarkable crop of babies, war babies, no doubt, which is soon to be harvested. It is well, perhaps, that this condition exists. If the war continues, it is, of course, to be supposed that lives will be lost, and these youngsters soon to come will help keep up the population.' popula-tion.' The other is the surprising evidence evi-dence of filial love and affection which the draft has developed. Young fellows fel-lows who hitherto have never shown any thing but indifference so far as their parents are concerned, are now most solicitous as to the welfare of their fathers and mothers. Ex. |
