Show ' V The printing of the Liberty Bonds by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington was a task of such magnitude mag-nitude that the story of how it was done will be of general interest. The plates for the bonds were engraved on steel. Thirty million sheets of paper weighing nearly one million pounds and , filling six hundred freight cars were required for this mammoth Government I. 0. U. Four hundred miles of linen tape were consumed in binding the coupons to the bonds, and the latter if placed end to end would form a line sixteen hundred miles in length. Summerland Expositor. |
