Show MAKING A MINE AT ST. CROIX There is some good work going on at this little mine, commencing at the main tunnel where they are taking tak-ing out a nice grade of lead-silver ore. The net returns on the last car from this tunnel was around twenty-three twenty-three dollars per ton. On the 100-foot level there is a high grade of copper ore coming out that will cut close to 30 per cent copper cop-per and will run good in silver. On the 300 level there is a drift going out to tap the main lead-silver vein. This drift has just encountered encounter-ed one of the big east and west fissures fis-sures which looks very good for ore. This drift will be continued on the fissure until the big contact is reached, reach-ed, which It is expected will open up another big mine for Beaver county. The St. Croix property is considered consid-ered one of the most promising things in this vicinity and is owned by eastern people. Elmer E. Davie is supervising the work. |
