Show Engine 3406 has arrived from the Los Angeles division and will be placed in passenger service on the Salt Lake division. Inasmuch as school will soon start and there are a number of the boys in the local shops who will resign their respective positions in order to attend school, there will be some splendid positions open for live wires. The position of helper is now a good one as the pay ranges close to forty cents an hour. Engines 3654 and 3628 have arrived ar-rived from .the Los Angeles division and will be placed in freight service on the Salt Lake division. Engine 3201 was used to pull the officers special west bound which passed through Milford Thursday. This special was run on a scheduled train order and made the time. Engine 2516 Is now In service on the hill as a helper. The boys all say that she is a tonnage consumer and the way she brings the trains up the hill Is like stealing candy from a baby. Engine 3659 will probably be out of the hospital on the first of the month. Engines 3664 and 3408 are still In a critical condition. Berkhlmer says darn the man that stole his cheese anyway. Cold feet must be an awful thing In a game of draw. Now Is the time to put In a few tons of coal for the winter. The present pres-ent outlook is that coal will be handled hand-led the same as sugar. This class of engines will be placed in service on the Salt Lake Route at once. Supt. H. E. VanHousen, who accompanied ac-companied the officers' special over the road, returned to Salt Lake on No. 4 Thursday evening. It is reported that the beanery is to be enlarged at once in order to prevent beaneryitis. The Union station was having its repeater sets overhauled under the supervision of General Supt. of Line Construction Howard this week. There is to be a sparring match arranged ar-ranged shortly. It will be no decision deci-sion affair. Day Yard Clerk Frank Hurley leaves for Los Angeles on No. 3 this Friday to be absent for three or four days. Operator Dumont of Lynndyl is taking a leave of absence for thirty days. He will visit friends in Kansas Kan-sas City and other Eastern points. |
