Show THE NEW SUGAR REGULATIONS UP 10 DATE It may not be understood by the majority that retailers of sugar are virtually acting as distributors for the government; in other words, that the sugar belongs to the U. S. government. gov-ernment. Each store has to account for every pound of sugar allowed It. Each card with the buyer's name Is sent in to headquarters and if it is found one has had more than their allotment they will not be able to buy another supply. This is a war measure and both retailer and buyer should be willing to live up to it without grumbling. T.he allowance for each person is two pounds for thirty days supply for household purposes. Owing to the extreme shortage the food administrator has been compelled com-pelled to reduce the allowance to each family for home canning purposes, pur-poses, and sugar will be distributed on pledge cards on the following basis: A family consisting of four people or under 6 lbs. A family consisting of over four and including six 10 lbs. A family consisting of six ami including in-cluding nine 15" lbs. A family consisting of more than nine 25 lbs. In France the weekly allowance of sugar is about four ounces per head, or at the rate of 13 pounds per year. So one can easily see that we are not nearly so limited as people of that country. |
