Show HUSTLERS, ALL Malone Splendidly Exemplifies the "Get Together" Idea Enterpising Community Affords Example Worthy of Emulation As an example of the real "get together" to-gether" spirit, the little community to the north of us, known as Malone, has the rest of the county backed into a corner. As hinted, Malone is not a large place; possibly three or four dozen families would comprise her total population, butwhatis lacking in numbers num-bers is more than made up iu genuine public spirit and progres9iveuess. In the first place Malone has a live Farmer's Club, with every member a booster. Through the medium of this well-ordered Club, Malone "does things." Did the rabbits become a nuisance over there? The Club organized or-ganized a big rabbit drive and purchased pur-chased ?1,100 worth of ammunition and "went to it." They killed 50,000 rabbits, the biggest "kill'' being 1,700 in one day. Do they need a better and more direct road from Malone to Utah? The Maloueites think so, and accordingly accord-ingly the Club appointed a committee to confer with the Business Men's Association of Milford, with a view to starting opperations. Have they all the water they need over there? Perhaps bo, but to make sure, the community, still working uuitedly, has taken up the matter of sinning we Is f,r artesian water in various parts of the locality. There is undoubtedly artesian water in the neighborhood, and if anybody can get it, these Malone hustlers cau. Then, like all progressive communities, commun-ities, the Maloneites touudjihat a live newspaper is indespensable to the proper growth of their community, and the Club, through a representati ye, asked the NEWS for space for a weekly news-letter, a request gladly granted by this paper. One of the real live wires of the Club, even intimated that there might be a resolution put through by the Club, pledging every member thereof to subscribe sub-scribe for a year's trial to the Beaver County NEWS, which still further demonstrates the good sense of our neighbors to the north. There are many former residents of Southern California in and near Malone, and we are informed that others are coming up this Summer to make their home there. Lack of space forbids a more extended ex-tended resume of what these Malone hustlers have accomplished through united and harmonious effort, and what is true of Malone is true of any other community, viz, the "get together" to-gether" spirit will bring results every time. r |
