Show MINERS VILLE NOTES John H. Barton, county truant officer, of-ficer, was in town last Monday. Clarence Corbridge is suffering from an attack of typhoid fever. The Minersville vote on the bond election was very light, as a vote of 22 to 11 was cast against the bonds. The Home Economics Club has called a meeting for next Sunday afternoon after the Sacrament service, ser-vice, to organize a local unit of the Red Cross. It is very Important that all those interested should be in attendance at-tendance at the meeting house. Equipment has arrived for a tennis ten-nis court which the local faculty are laying out on the school grounds. The plan is that an athletic association associa-tion may be formed, giving to members mem-bers the use of the court. Mr. Vern Clausen, who has been staying at the hotel in Minersville while engaged in the work at the stilling pool, has left town to be nearer the work now being carried on at the dam above town. ; A considerably larger number of boys and girls than usual is leaving town to attend school this winter. Ora Thompson, Lucy Matthews and Herbert Hall have gone to St. George; Goldwin Marshall has gone to the A. C. at Logan, and Stanley McKnight and Arthur Louis have gone to the B. A. C. at Cedar City. A number of others are also planning plan-ning to go away to- school during the next week. At the assembly period last Wednesday the students of the local high school decided to hold a cleanup clean-up day on Friday, and clear the grounds of the flourishing crop of weeds which has sprung up during the summer. Owing to the open trenches which still await the completion com-pletion of the plumbing which was partially installed last spring, it will .be impossible to get the grounds into first class condition at this time, but it is hoped that a soccer field can be cleaned for use this fall. A committee commit-tee of girls, in conjunction with Miss Axtens, was put in charge of refreshments refresh-ments for the workers. |
