Bob MurdocV, Delmar Kirk, Ray Fisher and Miss Gladys Martin, students at the U. S. A. C, came down from Logan Saturday morning morn-ing to enjoy the Christmas vacation vaca-tion with home folks. Mrs. Gene Kirk was hostess to her bridge club Monday evening with Mrs. D. S. Williams winning club prize, Mrs. William Cochrane house prize and Mrs. J. M. Williams Wil-liams consolation prize. Attorney Harold Cline returned Saturday night from a business trip of some 11 days in Los Angeles. An-geles. The members of the Venus and Adonis club enjoyed their annual Christmas party Wednesday evening eve-ning at the Union Pacillc dining room. A banquet was followed by dancing. Myron P. Lewis returned Thursday Thurs-day of last week from western New Mexico, where he had been engaged flor several months doing engineering for the American Telephone & Telegraph company. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Bird announce the engagement of their daughtei Ardith to Melvin M. Miller, son of i Mr. and Mrs. James A. Miller of Salt Lake. The marriage will take place January 3rd in the Salt Lake temple. The Misses Julia and Katharine Hendrickson arrived home Saturday Satur-day from Salt Lake to spend the holiday vacation with home folks. Miss Julia is a student at the U. of U. and Miss Katharine is a student stu-dent at Westminster "college. Mrs. E. L. Smith was hostess Wednesday night to her bridge club with Mrs. George Moore winding win-ding the high points prize, Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr. high honors prize and Mrs. D. S. Williams consolation con-solation prize. Others present were Mrs. George Rogers, Mrs. Myron Lewis, Mrs. Jack Weston and Mrs. Gene Kirk. Mrs. Grover Black entertainea h- club Monday evening at a Christmas party. Presents were exchanged and bridge was played during the evening. Those present were Mesdames Ray Mills, Faye Bradfield, Clarence Grimshaw, B. T. Walker, Ralph Cook, A. A. Mc-Intyre Mc-Intyre and Ross Palmer. Those winning prizes were Mrs. Grimshaw Grim-shaw for high points, Mrs. Brad-field Brad-field for high honors and Mrs. Walker consolation. The L. S. to B. of L. Incidentally, Conrad Whiting, genial manager of the lunch room, who is so wcllknown for the tasty meals served there, tells us that the popular straight-priced meal accomodations are to be restored, partly on his recommendation, after af-ter trying out the entree-priced menus without t. much success here and elsewhere along the line. Friends of Mrs. 0. A. Steenbock surprised her at her home December Decem-ber 18, the occasion being her birthday. Bridge was played ani at a late hour refreshments were served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. William Morris, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Fothcringham, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Connell, Mr. and Mrs. James P. Holm, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cook, Mrs. Tannis Stofeld of Lynndyl, and the guest of honor. Prizes were won by Mrs. Fotheringham, Mrs. Morris, Mr. Morris and Mf. Holm. A very enjoyable was had by everyone. The American Legion Auxiliary "held their annual Christmas party Monday night at the home of Mrs. Ethel Smith. Luncheon was served serv-ed at 8 o'clock followed by bridge. Prizes for bridgo were won by Mrs. Marie Iowis for high points, Mrs. Ethel Nielsen for high 1 honors and Mrs. Selma Carlson consolation. The committee consisted con-sisted of Mrs. Metta Weston, Mrs. Lila Wober, Mrs. Lois Wadding-ham Wadding-ham and Mrs. Ethel Smith.
