Show Tauotite Recipe of tka UezIc Fruit Cobblers. rRUTT cobblers combine fruit 1 and a simple cake batter to make a de luxe dessert which is especially suited to cold weather when hearty foods touch the hungry hun-gry spot and when it is a real joy to have the oven going. Of the many canned fruits that might be used start with the favorite favor-ite of the family, whether it be apricots, peaches, loganberries, cherries or what have you. The syrup from the fruit can be used as the sauce for the cobbler just as it is, or it can be thickened and extra seasonings added, such as a bit of cinnamon, lemon or nutmeg. nut-meg. The sauce may be hot or cold, but it really tastes better hot. If you do not have a recipe for the batter part, try this one: 1 eff? ' cup melted 'i cup suear shortening (not 1 cup flour hoi ) 1 tsp. baling powder 2 cups drained ',4 cup milk canned fruit i tsp. vanilla Cover the bottom of a greased baking pan with the drained canned fruit. Beat the egg well, and beat in the sugar. Sift flour with the baking powder and add alternately to egg mixture with the milk. Add vanilla, melted fat (butter will give excellent flavor, but any fat can be used), and beat thoroughly. Pour over the fruit and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for about 30-40 minutes.
