Show Employes of the Jefferson Mercantile Mer-cantile store, their wives and Mr. and Mrs. George Jefferson, enjoyed enjoy-ed a beef steak fry up at th Seely-Murdock park last Thursday Thurs-day evening. Miss Mary Banks returned home last Thcrsday from Salt Lake City. While there she was confined to a hospital for a few days, having had infection after the extraction of a tooth. Mr. ml Mrs. J. C. Smith, accompanied ac-companied by A. R. Hamilton of Beaver, last Thursday motored to Logan, where they attended a bankers' convention held in Logan canyon Friday and Saturday. Mrs. E. L. Smith and daughter Joan returned Monday from a visit of several weeks with relatives rela-tives and friends in Franklin, Idaho. Ida-ho. The older daughter, Lucile, remained in Franklin for a longer visit. , The abnormally cool weather of the first week of June, during which some of the more tender garden stuff on the flat suffered from frost, has been followed this week by equally abnormal warm weather, the official weather bureau bu-reau having recorded 95 and 98 degrees maximum on successive, days the middle of this week. ! Mrs. Viva Gray, sewing instructor instruc-tor under the local W1PA adult education project, informs The News that there will be no more forenoon classes in sewing until further notice. The afternoon classes (on Mondays, Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays will continue, however, as heretofore. An invitation to attend is extended extend-ed to all who are interested in sewing. (Mrs. J. M. Williams was hostess host-ess to the Saturday Afternoon Bridge club at her home June 8. Those present were Mrs. J. E. Wilson, Mrs. Val Yepsen, Mrs. Sam Cline, Mrs. William Cochrane, Coch-rane, Mrs. C. W. Cates, Mrs. Rudolph Ru-dolph Nielsen and Mrs. J. H. Weston. The high pointy pWize was won by Mrs. Yepsen, high honors by Mrs. Nielsen and consolation conso-lation by Mrs. Wilson. A card received from Mrs. J. R. Murdork jr., who, with her son, Joey, is enjoying a visit with her daughters in San Francisco and Oakland, California, tells of the arrival of a second baby daughter, Margaret. Ellen, born to Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Dunkley. Mrs. Dunk-ley Dunk-ley is the former Miss Dorothy Murdock and the new daughter arrived June 4th at an Oakland hospital. Mrs. William Cochrane and daughter Margaret spent the fore part of the week in Salt Lake City. ! Mr. . and Mrs. Elvie Robinson left last Sunday afternoon for a few days visit in Denver. Mrs. Robinson is the former Miss Sarah Pool. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hornback and baby son and Jim Gray were in from Garrison Sunday and spent the day at the home of Mrs. Viva Gray and family. Mrs. J. M. Williams, accompanied accom-panied by her niece and nephew, Tfelen and Charles Craven, who have spent the past few weeks in Milford, motored to Provo Thursday. George Olson, wellknown for mining activities in western Beaver Bea-ver county during the last two oi three years and at present one of the Ieasors at the Old Hickory mine, was married Saturday evening eve-ning to Mrs. Edith Wilkin of Salt Lake City. The ceremony was performed by Justice James E. Glenn following securing of the marriage license at Beaver. Among the pictures of Tribune carriers throughout the state who who are this spring graduating from high school, appeared that of Frank Tribole, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Tribole, who aspires to be a lawyer, according to The Tribune. Frank is employed for the summer at Zion park, with Ar-leigh Ar-leigh Campeau taking1 his place as Tribune carrier and doing a right fine job of it! Erm.a Marie Gillies of Milford was graduated last week from the University of Utah school of education, edu-cation, says a special news bureau note to this paper. She was in the division of home economics, and chose textiles as her major subject with foods as her minor. Miss Gillies was granted the degree de-gree of bachelor of science with a high school certificate at commencement com-mencement exercises on Tuesday. She is a graduate of Milford high school, where she was active in opera, dramatics and orchestra. At the university she has been a mom'ber of Alpha Delta Pi social sorority, Apmin fine arts society, and has worked on the publication staff of the Utonian, campus year book. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cline of Milford. |
