Show NewMusicTeacher Is Doing Fine Job With Band Groups Milford's summer band program, under the direction of Harry Clark, new music instructor for Milford high school, has been functioning quite successfully for the past two weeks and everything every-thing points to a steady growth of the summer program and its merging with a fine setup in the M. H. S. music department next fall and winter. Classes have been held each morning from eight o'clock until noon, with instruction for both beginning and advanced instrumentalists. instru-mentalists. The junior group meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the older group on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The advanced band group also has been active wfth scheduled rehearsals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday Fri-day evenings at 6:30. One impromptu im-promptu concert has been presented pre-sented by the latter group, with their next appearance scheduled for next week during the race meet. Mr. Clark states that it is not yet too late to enroll for this summer band program, and parents par-ents and students interested are invited to contact him any time durng the next week. Several school instruments are still avail-: able for beginning students, he adds, and all the instruction -fs free. Advanced band workers, both students and former students, stu-dents, are especially urged to join with the band group and do their bit toward making the race meet and the continuing summer program a big success. IReese Griffith, wellknown violinist, vio-linist, is conducting string classes on Wednesday and Thursday of each week from 10 to 12 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., and is likewise doing a very fine job. There is no charge for this phase of the summer sum-mer program either and local boys and girls are overlooking a splendid musical opportunity if they fail to take advantage of some phase of this summer program. pro-gram. Mr. .Clark comes to the Milford high school after an eminently successful year in charge of the music department of the Helper junior high school, where he had one of the classiest little bands in the state. Fifteen highly superior ratings and one highly superior outstanding rating were awarded Helper band students for their work during the two-day Region 5 music festival held recently at Price, and Mr. Clark returned from directing groups at the national na-tional music contests held at Grand Junction, Colorado just prior to coming to Milford. He is the son of a wellknown railroad man of Helper, division point on the D. & R. G. railroad. TVl |
