Show iri- FARMNOTES Farmers are Urged to Visit Demostration Windbreaks , J. Whitney 'Floyd, extension forester, was in the county again on April 17. He and the county agent delivered trees for two more 'demonstration windbreaks to ibe located at Adamsville and on Milford Mil-ford flat. During the day they also pruned the Siberian elm trees in the two existing windbreak demonstrations at Milford on the farms of Ben Lewis and W. J. Baker. These two windbreaks are two years old and have already proven their effectiveness in pji-otecfting buildings from the severity of summer winds and winter storms. County farmers are urged to go see them and talk with the owners concerning them. Mr. Floyd stated that the college col-lege nurserv would quit shipping trees for this year about May 1. Farmers who desire them should send in their order during the next 10 days. Order blanks can ibe Obtained Ob-tained from the county agent. Rodent Bait Available Jto Farmers A supply of poison bait for ground squirrel control has been received by the county agent from the biological survey. This bait is availalble to farmers at cost and immediate use should be made of it in squirrel infested areas. iSquirrels eome out of hibernation hiberna-tion early in this country. Males are the first to appear, followed later by the females. All should be out by this time and control measures will be effective. |
