Show Milford High to Be Hosts at Regional Meet Saturday, March 30, four school districts of Southern Utah will participate in the annual regional speech meet at the Milford High School. School districts represented will ' be Millard County, Iron County, Washington County and Beaver County. Kane County will not be represented. The Milford High School is acting as host in order to qualify in another requirement re-quirement for high school accreditation. accredi-tation. The purpose of the Regional Speech Meet is to select the outstanding out-standing participants from Region Six who will be eligible to vie for State honors at the University of Utah in April. The events of the contest will include debate, oratory, extemporaneous speaking and panel discussion. The subject for debate this year is the problem of universal military training. The Milford High school speech department, depart-ment, under the direction of Mr. John Vloyantes, will participate in panel and debate. The winners of the Beaver' County speech runoff, run-off, which will be held at Beaver Friday, will represent the schools of this county in oration and extemporaneous ex-temporaneous speaking. Judges for the contest in Beaver will be from Iron County while the judges for the Saturday meet will be representatives repre-sentatives from all districts entering enter-ing the Regional Speech Meet. The students who will represent Miford High School are as follows: debate: Arwell Campbell, Dorothy Campeau, Bert Leany and Bill McDonald; Mc-Donald; orations: Maurice Moore or Carlie Waddoups; extempor-anous extempor-anous speaking: Carolyn Magill; panel: Melpha Lyman, Arwell Campbell and Joe Murdock. The public is cordially invited to attend the events which will be held in the main building on the high school campus beginning at 10 A. M. |
