Show Red Cross Workers Exceed $1000 Quota The Milford 1946 Red Cross drive went over the top to the tune of more than $1230 contributed to apply against a requested $1000. That was the cheerful report of County Chairman J. C. Smith, who pointed out that Milford has oversubscribed over-subscribed its quota in . every Red Cross, War Fund or other charitable drive since the start of the war. "The response has been wonderful," won-derful," Mr. Smith said. "The people peo-ple of Milford, realizing that though the war is over the Red Cross is a tremendously important organization in the rehabilitation of the veterans, care of the wounded, wound-ed, and continuance of their usual peace-time aid to the needy, came through with generous contributions contribu-tions as they have always done and maintained their record of always giving more than asked for in all worthy causes." Mr. Smith also extended sincere appreciation to the "workers" who canvassed the residences and business busi-ness establishments. "They were ready and willing to give their time as well as their money to assure the success of the drive," he said, "and are a real asset to our community." Mr. Smith also pointed out that any surplus of funds, occasioned by the oversubscription of overestimate overesti-mate of local Red Cross needs, will proportionately reduce the budget in the 1947 drive. |
