Show CHRISTIANSCIENCE "Christ Jesus' 'is the subject of the sermon to be read in First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Milford on Sunday, March 1. The Golden Text: "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders," is from Isaiah 9:6. The lesson-sermon also includes the Bible passage: "And when he had called unto !him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease" (Matt. 10:1); and the following correlative from the Christian Science textbook, "Science "Sci-ence and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ-healing. Christ-healing. He taught his followers that his religion had a divine Principle, which would cast out error and heal both the sick and the sinning. He claimed no intelligence, in-telligence, action, nor life separate from God." (p. 136). |
