Show Commendation (From Washington Co. News) Melvin Wittwer, superintendent superin-tendent of Beaver county schools and former Santa Clara resident, was a visitor at the News office Friday, February 14. His visit brought to mind the fact that he was one of those who received a citation from General Pershing for the bravery of Mobile Hospital No. 2, of which he was a member during the World war. Following is the citation as it appeared in the November 28, 1918, issue of The News: "General Hdars. A. E. F. France, Aug. 18, 1918. "From: Commander in Chief. "To: Capt. Fordyce B. St. John, Commanding Mobile Hospital No. 2. "Subject: Commendation. "1. The Commander in Chief was proud to learn from a report re-port from the office of the Inspector In-spector A. E. F., of the fine courage shown by you and your personnel under shell fire when stationed with the (censored) (cen-sored) Division at (censored) France. He congratulated Mobile Mo-bile Hospital No. 2 and requests re-quests you to inform its members mem-bers that he is proud to have them in his command. "By direction: General Pershing, Per-shing, "LeRoy Eitinge, Dep. Chief of the Staff." |
