Show BOYS CONFESS TO TRAGIC DEED ! Fright resulting from the accidental shooting of Richard Ray Pectol, 6, son of Alden and Rita Armstrong Pectol of St. George, prompted his two playmates to hide the body of their companion in the Virgin river, a coroner's jury was told Tuesday I afternoon. The Pectol boy, Alvin Iverson, 9,, and Keith Iverson, 6, sons of Mr. and! I Mr.-. Victor Iverson, wer$ playing in j : a hen house in the Ray Bentely place. ; near the Iverson home, Monday af- j i ternoon, the elder boy testified, when a loaded gun accidently discharged, I ' sending the charge through young i I Pectol's neck, killing him instantly. j j The two children, frightened at the shooting, ran from the hen house, ; they testified, but later returned and dragged the body a half mile through fields and slough to the river, where they placed it in the water and con-p con-p cealed the clothing. They then washed the blood from themselves and their clothing in the river and returned to their homes, thev testified. testi-fied. When the Pectol boy was first missed by his .parents, the Iverson children told Mr. Pectol his son was last seen in a slough. A posse of a hundren men was organized by deputy dep-uty sheriffs and a search was conducted con-ducted through Monday night. The body was recovered Tuesday at 8 a. m. by Harry Brooks, and after af-ter its discovery the Iverson boys gave a complete account of the tragedy. trag-edy. i A corner's inquest was conducted immediatly by Justice of the Peace i If. S. Snow, wh-o heard testimony ' fiom the Iverson boys, Mr. Pectol, i Sheriff William Brooks, Deputy , Sheriff John Cottam and the men who discovered the body. The jury j comprising Fred A. Reber, W. W. : Cannon and William Harridan, j found that the boy was killed by an j , accidental gunshot, fired by his play- j mates. j , Funeral services for the boy were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the' St. George South ward L.
