Show THE DRAINAGE TAX DECISION HANDED DOWN The long-waited-for decision in the drainage tax matter has been decided. The Supreme Court says the Assessed Assess-ed Benefits can not be exceeded. Which means, farmers, that when you have paid the amount of the benefit assessed against your land, your tax has been paid in full. The drain tax Is not a blanket' lien. Now we can feel easier. A man knows just" what he has to pay. It clears the uneasiness. uneasi-ness. Now each farmer can know that when he has paid his taxes, his land won't be sold for the delinquency of his neighbor. This should, give us a buoyancy of spirit that will 'pep up the flabby backbone, back-bone, put zip into each man, and bring us into a morale which can cope with the rest of- our intricate, and burdensome burden-some problem. This decision was expected; it is what many looked for and in a measure mea-sure anticipated, so strong was the feeling that it would be thus decided. Now men, play for long time. Play for a re-issue of the tax in one sum, ten-twenty years, interest only for the next ten years, and as much of an honorable reduction.as can be asked ask-ed for, with all help from Federal Land Bank, and other money .lenders, on their liens as can be gotten. And remember it. can only be asked for, not demanded. The Chronicle is elated over . this decision. It is a wonderful help to the farmer. His cause has been bettered by it. It is the first victory in. the batle, and a very decisive one. Millard Mil-lard County Chronicle, Delta- |
