Show THE NEWSPAPERS AND Whether the time has come to run political propaganda for either or all political parties ' is the ' question; whether is is' within the function of newspaper services to enter the arena with prepared political propaganda is another question; whether newspapers should use this sort of propaganda ah, there should be no question. Washington Newspapers does not believe the newspaper services should enter this field for newspapers as those days have gone, and gone forever, for-ever, for all except a few of those who still feel they must come to the aid of their favorite party by using editorial and news columns to lead the poor reader out of his political darkness. When as a matter of fact this same poor reader does not want to be led, driven, coaxed or othewise guided by any one for any person,- party or policy, and the time, for this type of newspapering- has. gone : along with the many other antiquated, obsolete and useless practices which formerly controlled the publisher.' r And why not? What right has a publisher, just because he possesses means of distribution, to decry, abuse, give publicity and urge upport of one person, party or people over another merely because he believes the same way? Where one man is as good as another, where one party is as sound as another, what right has a publisher to hold up the right arm of one and tie down the right arm of another? Regardless of the source of this propaganda it is the wrong policy to be used in these days of progress, freedom and the fulfillment of a bigger big-ger and better mission assigned to newspapers and if these people and parties . want the good folks to know what it is all about, let them do the same as others put it in the advertising adver-tising columns!
