Show Mrs. Green's Pathetic S. O. S. Over Telephone Mrs. Green had announced cheerfully cheer-fully that she was having a table of bridge the next evening while Mr. G. went to a business dinner. Her husband hus-band looked at her with the cold eye of an unbiased critic. "Do you mean to tell me you have the nerve to invite people here to play bridge? Why, you can't play." "But, Fred dear, I can," Mrs. G. replied proudly, "Mrs. Thomas gave me a lesson yesterday." What Mr. Green had to say about a one-lesson bridge player was sufficient. suffi-cient. It accounted for Mrs. Green's telephone call to her brother next day. "Oh, Bob," she wailed. "You've got to help me out Just bring any one you please and pretend to drop in unexpectedly un-expectedly tonight. Anything to break up the bridge game." |
