Show RAILROAD BUSINESS PICKSUPLOCALLY Railroad business locally has been picking up within the past week, according ac-cording to word given out today. Seven trainmen have been called back to work in the past day or two, and it looks as though railroad business were better fixed than a year ago. In Milford, there has been added an extra ex-tra shift of the switch engine to handle a little increased business. Not so good however, has been the forced transfer of several car clerks, who, due to displacement in employment employ-ment stringency, have been forced to exercise their seniority at other terminals ter-minals than Milford. Trains have been running behind schedule this week, due to extreme cold in the north, but schedules have again resumed normalicy. Rules Examiner Scarborough has been here all week, examing maintenance main-tenance of way employes. He moved east Thursday to conduct similar examinations ex-aminations and will then return to this territory to quiz transportation employees and operators. |
