Show WEEK'S SEARCH IS NOT PRODUCTIVE No Trace of Graham Can Be Found After Disappearing Two Weeks Ago. WAS KNOWN HERE Two weeks have passed since the night when Maurice Graham took off in his plane from the Las Vegas field and headed up the valleys toward Milford, and as we go to press this week again there is no information to be had locally which would indicate that the searchers are any nearer to finding him. All week planes have roared and droned, passing and repassing re-passing in the search. Army and navy planes, together with those of commercial airlines, have searched diligently over the.'rbute between Salt Lake and Vegas. Attention has been paid to every clue, but all were fruitless. fruit-less. A night search was made over the mountains near Meadow, where a fire was reported, but to no avail. At present, flyers have been looking near Modena, where flares have been reported seen. Snow storms have ceased and visibility vis-ibility has been reported as excellent. Twelve planes came up from La3 Vegas on Monday, and at one time during the day, there were eight of them on the Milford field. A near calamity occurred, when one plane, in landing, tilted gently over on its back, with its tail resting on the fence. There was no one hurt. There probably is more than pass-ng pass-ng interest in Milford over the disappearance disap-pearance of Maurice Graham as many local people have met -and known the ost aviator. About four years ago, when the government airmail service ' vas just coming into being, Captain Graham, then in the army service, was a luncheon guest of the Lions Club. With him were four Lieutenants, Lieuten-ants, who at the. present time are leaders lead-ers in the hunt or the lost pilot. The county sheriff's office received a wire Wednesday from the Western Air Express, asking that a check be made over the Piute Indian Reservation, Reserva-tion, stating that it was known that the Indians had an unfriendly attitude atti-tude and should Graham have landed near them, they might have confiscated confiscat-ed the mail. This message left local authorities somewhat mystified, inasmuch in-asmuch that while there are a few Amilies of Piute Indians, living near Indian Peak at the west edge of the county, the Piute Indian Reservation proper is located way over in San Tuan county, and extends into Arizona. |
