Show LEE BROWN TAKES OVER OWNERSHIP OF NEWSPAPER IN EAST Lee E. Brown, former editor and j owner of the Milford News has again j become the publisher of a newspaper, I according to a story appearing recent- j ly in the Milton Herald, a weekly pub- i lishod in Milton, Iowa. The account of his taking over ownership own-ership reads: "The Milton Herald appears this week under the guidance of a new publisher. Mr. Lee C. Brown, of Bloomfield, purchased the plant Monday Mon-day and took possession at once. We feel the paper has passed into competent compe-tent hands, as he is one of the most capable young newspper men of this section. Having observed his work in the newspaper offices in the Bloom-field Bloom-field papers, we know whereof we speak. Mr. Brown is one of the newer- generation of newspaper men. He was fitted .for his chosen profession by specializing in English and journalism journ-alism while pursuing college studies He graduated from Lombard College with high honors, completing his higher education after returning from abroad, where he spent the larger part of 1917, 1918 and 1919 in the service of his country. At first handicapped handi-capped by injuries sustained while on the front during the World War, he was not deterred later in fitting himself him-self for his life's work. Completing college courses, he taught in an Illinois Illin-ois high school for a year and then entered newspaper work. He has been connected' as a news writer with the Galesburg Evening Mail, the Cle Elum (Wash.) Miner-Echo, the Mt. Vernon, (Wash.) Daily Herald, and the Milford, (Utah), News. "As owner of the last named publication, pub-lication, he established an ' enviable record in two years, being recognized by his contemporaries by being elected elect-ed a director of the Utah State Press Association. Disposing of his business in Utah last summer, he returned to his former form-er hornie, Bloomfield, and since that time has been engaged as news and editorial writer for the Davis County Republican and the Bloomfield Democrat: Demo-crat: He is a son of County Superin-tenden Superin-tenden and Mrs. H. C. Brown, of Bloomfield. |
