Show BELARSKY CONCERT PROVES BIG SUCCESS (By Lorus Hand) Isidor Belarsky, Russian basso, was greeted with enthusiasm by a large aundience attending his song recital Tuesday evening. His first number won his listeners and enthusiastic applause ap-plause greeted it as well as the numbers num-bers that followed and their enthusiasm enthus-iasm forced him to respond after numerous num-erous curtain calls with six encore numbers. The singer exhibited a fluent, thoroughly thor-oughly musical and finely polished style. He interpreted each number of a varied program with excellent taste and -unerring judgement. Singing dramatic passages from the operas with great gusto and inimitable acting, act-ing, yet in numbers of Schubert songs he made the complete transition in style and feeling which is so necessary. neces-sary. His Schubert is indeed delightful. delight-ful. Mr. Belarsky's voice is quite unlike all others; one is conscious of feeling it rather than hearing it. His voice is vigorous, of unbelievable valume, great range and flexibility. In the biggest climaxes there was still the impression of an unused reserve power. pow-er. A characteristic and important feature fea-ture 'of the concert was the splendid rythm which could be felt throughout. In all the numbers a great throbbing rythm so perfectly timed that not even the stiffest of human beings could fail to be carried away in it. Mr. Gerrit de Jong Jr. at the piano assisted assist-ed perfectly in the matter of rythm and at times also gave to the piano accompaniment the character of full orchestra. In all, it was an evening of deep enjoyment to the people of Beaver county since not only Milford people attended, but numbers from Beaver, Minersville and other communities. |
