Show ST. GEORGE EDITOR DECRIES METHODS OF ROUTING TRAVEL FLAYS SALT LAKE FOR NOT PLAYING FAIR WITH SOUTH The underhanded methods that Salt Lake City has used in the past are again being used that is, the diverting of westbound tourist traffic through Nevada over the Victory and Lincoln Highways. This is the information in-formation received by St. George residents resi-dents who have been in Salt Lake and investigated the reports, and as chronicled chron-icled in the Washington County News. It has been known for some time that something was wrong, as it is very seldom eastern tourists are seen in St.- George. Beaver too, has noticed a 50 percent falling off in tourist travel. This is a matter that concerns con-cerns every community south of Salt Lake. . It is deceiving the tourist. Southern Utah with its Zion Park, Cedar Breaks, Bryce Canyon and the beautiful beau-tiful section of the Grand Canyon, the Kaibab forest and the other scenic wonders, have a thousand times more to offer the traveller than, the desolate deso-late wastes of northern and central Nevada. All roads in this section and park connecting links are in fine shape and the highways are being rapidly improved. im-proved. Over $23,000 was spent by the road commission i that county alone last month, stated the Washington County News. Salt Lake should work for the interests in-terests of Utah north, east, south and west, and not for southern Idaho and Nevada. Los Angeles is anxious for our business and if upstate up-state interests continue their present unfair tactics, without a doubt it would be to our best interests to turn our business dealings to the southern California metropolis. |
