Heroine of Scott's 'Ivanhoe' (there spelled Rebecca). The I. O. O. F. Subordinate Order in organizing adopted the second, or archaic, spelling and use the form Rebekah. to give it the ancient and Hebraic dress. Preference is given bv Webster and many writers of literature lite-rature to the form Rebecca. Shoe manufacturers seem to think that even if hides are away down in price the public Is still worth skinning. |
