Show THE EUREKA HANDCLASP and business getters; and we will convince them and the daily press of the feasibility of our road. Once put over, it is an accomplished fact. It's like a toboggan slide the main drudgery Is climbing up the thing; but once up, KER-SCOOT! All the rest is easy, James Roblson of Snake valley told the party the condition of the road today, for his party of three had Just come over it from Slmonson's ranch, 87 miles, In four and a half hours proof of the road itself. Mr. Fennell of Eureka spoke pleasingly pleas-ingly of his town, followed by Harry T. Baker. Then arose Hyrum Smith, whose comprehensive view, the past, the present and the future knew! Against ye, ye Deltans, coward train, Gods; how my soul spurns with Just disdain, dis-dain, a crew that fights not off the Heel with Iron shod, nor twists its neck as tyrants on it trod! Sluggards, Slug-gards, dotards, arise! Be brave! Proceed Pro-ceed at once your land to save. The way I'll point with ease 't is done; proceed at once and it is won. Take axe in hand, and cleave In twain. Leave warring factions to fight again, but not Tvith you. The thing divdie; then take the better halves side by side, from which the worser has been lopped away, then reunite the western west-ern twain for strong sway. The way I will myself prepare, for what we greatly think we nobly dare. Yeh ken? He ceased, and on our ear so pleasing pleas-ing left his voice that we the while thought him still speaking still stood fixed to hear. The management of the Blue Bird turned their hall and dance floor over to the party to make free use of, and all repaired there, where a very enjoyable time was had toy all up to midnight. Delta wishes to thank her guests from Eureka, Lynndyl, Leamington and Snake valley for their presence and for the opportunity to express the warmth we feel to them. They were most welcome. And when we meet again In a bigger pcirty, the formality of breaking friendship will have been performed, and we can meet even closer drawn. Gentlemen, be with us again. Now that you know where the latchstrlng hangs, yank on the thing again. You're most welcome. Sound 'em. Try 'em on the tongue. They combine perfectly. It makes a good combination. Eureka and Delta, oombined and shortened into the euphonious Eureltft. We like it. It sits well, ' Not since Delta kept a squad on the road all the time to visit Eureka (when we didn't have it and they did) have we ever before known that Eureka had Buoh a fine lot of regular fellers. Why, It did a man's soul good to have 'em down here. There were eighteen of them, our good friends from Lynndyl a dozen strong, and three good folks from Snake valley. val-ley. So that in all we were graced with quite a nice array, and enjoyed it immensely to have the pleasure of being their hosts. The party at the Delta Hotel was very good. Unfortunately the evening even-ing was bitterly cold, so that some of the ladies, thinly clad, felt the chill; but it was made up in the warmth of welcome given our guests. Mayor Clark Allred turned the keys of the little hamlet over to the visitors, with an address of welcome. President Frank L. Davis of the Delta Commercial Club spoke with sincerity, welcoming his former-day associates from the north, with whom an eight-year abode in that camp placed him on friendship's firmest footing. A reply was made by P. H. Craven, president of the Tintic Commercial Club of Eureka, who opened our eyes to the magnitude of the great metal camp Just above us. In an interesting in-teresting talk he brought forth all the prominent points of interest in that wonderful producer, its age, its wealth extracted from the earth, the volume of Its output, and in a twenty minute talk held the' eager attention of his audience. Following his remarks re-marks the applause was generous, attesting at-testing the appreciation of his hearers. hear-ers. M.- M. Steele, Jr., the man who dreamed this thing when it wasn't, the man who saw it when others couldn't, and the man who has been the buffet ever since, gave a forceful force-ful speech on the Grand Central Highway, telling in plain terms' Just where Ely stood, its intent, its part; where the Salt Lake bunch of root-ters root-ters would be found; the advantages to the State at large, and to Delta and Eureka in particular. And he asked for a further meeting, when representatives from Salt Lake would go to Eureka, and there be met by our squad, who Jointly with Eureka would take the party through the points of that town and then take the connecting link of roaot out of Eureka to Lynndyl, gather up our next-door neighbors In that latter place and come down to Delta. Hon. plans that after Delta then stages the biggest party she has ever put over we all take our state guests over the Grand Central Highway direct di-rect to Ely, and that lively town will do the rest. Lehman's Cave and the still will both be explored. (Engage us reservations, Watson. Quick!!) In that party are to be automobile pathfinders, Salt Lake Commercial Club members, good road booster). |
